Commissioning Lead – Data Centre – Portugal

€115,000 - €120,000 + Accommodation + Rotation + Travel + €1,200 Net Living Allowance

We are working with a leading European contractor delivering large-scale data centre and mission-critical projects across Europe.

Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Commissioning Lead to join their project team in Portugal (Senta).

This is a senior leadership role responsible for the full commissioning lifecycle of complex MEP systems on a major data centre project.

You will take full ownership of the commissioning strategy and execution across all mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring safe, structured, and successful handover of critical infrastructure.

This is a key site leadership role working closely with project management, vendors, QA/QC teams, and client stakeholders.
 

The Role

• Lead the full MEP commissioning strategy from design stage through to handover
• Develop and manage the integrated commissioning programme
• Coordinate Mechanical and Electrical commissioning activities across site
• Oversee LV, MV, and HV systems including switchgear, UPS, generators, and protection systems
• Manage HVAC, chilled water, pumps, controls, fire systems, and fuel systems commissioning
• Lead vendor commissioning activities including OFCI and CFCI packages
• Chair commissioning meetings and manage stakeholder coordination
• Ensure compliance with QA/QC standards, EHS requirements, and AP procedures
• Manage Integrated Systems Testing (IST) and phased energisation activities
• Oversee FATs, SATs, and site acceptance testing activities
• Prepare and review commissioning documentation, test scripts, and handover packs
• Report commissioning progress, risks, and constraints to senior management

About You

• Degree or trade qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering
• 10+ years’ commissioning experience in construction or engineering environments
• Strong experience on data centre or mission-critical projects
• Deep understanding of MEP systems commissioning and integration
• Strong knowledge of LV/MV/HV systems and testing procedures
• Experience with IST, energisation, and system handover processes
• Strong leadership and vendor management skills
• Excellent communication and programme management ability
• Calm, structured, and confident under pressure
